Special Olympics New Brunswick (SONB) offers a variety of programs throughout the province.  Operating both winter and summer sports we are sure that there will be a good fit for all athletes. 

SPORTS

Special Olympics New Brunswick offers both winter and summer sports for athletes at a level that best suits their athletic and individual ability.

Whether you choose to stay active for life, compete in year round programs, or complete at a National or International level, Special Olympics sports are right for you! We operate out of 10 different Regions and offer a total of 18 different sports. Please see our list below of all of our sports.

Youth development program

Recognizing that physical activity benefits individuals of all ages, Special Olympics in Canada, developed 2 youth centered programs in every chapter across Canada.  These program are both engaging and fun while assisting young athletes with skill development; socially, physically, and cognitively.

UNIFIED SPORT

The power of social inclusion strengthens friendships, families and communities.  This newly developed program is a partnership with the NB Physical Education Society, New Brunswick Interscholastic Athletic Association. This program allows students in middle and high school to promote social inclusion. Unified Sports integrates individuals with and without intellectual disabilities (ID) on teams for sport training and competition to promote social engagement and development.

We have over 20 schools throughout the province participating in Unified Sport. If you are a teacher, educational assistant, or apart of New Brunswick Education System, contact us at nbyouth@specialolympics.ca to learn how to register your school.
